Full of Life skilled fitness sessions are provided by a licensed physical therapist.
Traditional skilled physical therapy, may require a doctors order, is deemed to be medically necessary, and is paramount to providing rehabilitation from an acute injury or medical condition. Typically, skilled physical therapy is only provided for a limited and finite period of time determined by the achievement of functional goals and/ or the management of pain.
Full of Life Fitness however, provides ongoing instruction in FITNESS FOR LIFE. Your Full of Life Fitness therapist will provide one on one skilled fitness to promote wellness and continued improvement in strength, endurance and independence long after your covered medicare benefits have expired and your formal physical therapy has been discontinued.
Very often clients will have received excellent rehab from in-home and out-patient physical therapists but have difficulty continuing a program of exercise independently. The fall-out of the discontinuance of a prescribed program of exercise can be insurmountable. Lack of exercise inevitably results in muscle weakness, joint stiffness, limited endurance, reduced functional mobility, impaired balance and falls; often times resulting in re-hospitalization and starting the same cycle all over again. All older adults that do not exercise on a regular basis will suffer the same fate over time.
Full of Life Fitness strives to fill that “gap in home care” by providing skilled one on one fitness enabling older adults to achieve their highest level of fitness for life.
No. Because Full of Life Fitness provides ongoing “SKILLED FITNESS” for life. It is not skilled physical therapy, and is not deemed medically necessary, therefore it is not covered by Medicare. Full of Life Fitness accepts private pay only.
Your therapist will be available to provide you with up to three sessions a week for at least 30 minutes per session. To improve strength you must perform strength training at least twice a week on non consecutive days. Once you become familiar with your exercise program you may only need occasional "check-ins" with your therapist to revise your program as needed for as long as the client and/or therapist deem necessary in order to achieve and maintain the highest level of function. Remember at any age you can improve strength with consistent regular exercise!
It is always a good idea to check with your doctor before beginning any program of exercise. You will be asked to sign a release form stating that your doctor has not told you to avoid exercise for any reason and indicating that you have not been diagnosed with an unstable heart condition, recent fracture, or an other acute medical condition that would prohibit exercise.
